Team USA wins gold, silver in mixed doubles at PASF

ARLINGTON, Texas - Team USA swept the gold and silver medals in the mixed doubles event Friday at the Pan American Sports Festival in Puebla, Mexico.

The U.S. pairing of Sarah Lokker of New Baltimore, Michigan, and Nathan Bohr of Austin, Texas, claimed the gold medal with an eight-game total of 3,395.

Bohr put together a big set with 1,839, which was the highest individual total by any bowler, to help secure the gold medal. Lokker contributed 1,556.

Mike Fagan of Dallas and Kayla Johnson of Washington, Illinois, earned the silver medal with 3,344. Fagan shot 1,771, while Johnson added 1,573.

The bronze medal went to Colombia's Clara Guerrero and Manuel Otalora with 3,341.

The Pan American Sports Festival is a qualifier for the Pan American Games, which will be held in Toronto next year. Team USA member AJ Johnson of Oswego, Illinois, also is at the event as an alternate for the men's team.

Bowling is one of 23 sports taking part in the Pan American Sports Festival. The competition continues Saturday with singles and concludes Sunday with Masters match play.
