USBC completes investigation of Webber International

ARLINGTON, Texas – USBC has completed an investigation into allegations of ball tampering by Webber International athletes. Multiple athletes at Webber International acknowledged conducting an experiment to alter USBC approved bowling balls but denied using the balls in certified competition.

While there was no specific allegation of Webber International using an illegally altered ball in USBC Collegiate competition, as a matter of due diligence, USBC Rules requested that Webber International send all urethane bowling balls used in competition during the current season to USBC for testing.

USBC’s equipment specifications staff tested all of the balls submitted by Webber International in USBC’s lab. USBC found no indication of tampering with the balls submitted that were used in competition.

Additionally, USBC has tested and has confirmed all balls Webber International intends to use for the 2025 USBC Intercollegiate postseason meet the expected hardness of used urethane balls.

Therefore, USBC is confident in the integrity of the 2025 USBC Intercollegiate competitions.

USBC has determined that some of the individuals involved did violate USBC Collegiate Rules.  Three Webber International athletes have been declared ineligible for the 2025 USBC Collegiate postseason, and a member of the coaching staff has been placed on probation.

USBC is moving forward with disciplinary actions for these individuals for a potential violation of USBC Playing rules. USBC has published a detailed investigation report, which can be found HERE.
