USBC Convention starts in Omaha, Nebraska

ARLINGTON, Texas – The United States Bowling Congress Convention and Annual Meeting is taking place this week in Omaha, Nebraska, with seminars, exhibits and the legislative session at the Ramada Plaza Omaha.
This is the 10th USBC Convention and “Celebrate Your Success” is the theme.
The Regional Roundup Gauntlet, scheduled for late Monday afternoon, starts the week and the convention will kick into full gear Tuesday morning when delegates attend a presentation from motivational speaker Joe Malarkey, followed by A Future for the Sport seminar.
There are nine seminars planned for Tuesday afternoon, including seminars on Association Successes, the Value of USBC Membership, and Enhancing the Tournament Experience.
Seminars continue Wednesday morning, including the Meet the Candidates session where delegates can hear from the six candidates running for three open positions on the USBC Board of Directors.
The first session of the USBC Annual Meeting begins Wednesday afternoon and will include the Susan G. Komen Meet for the Cure and Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL) presentations, along with reports from industry representatives including the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America, The National Bowling Foundation, Strike Ten Entertainment, Professional Bowlers Association, World Tenpin Bowling Association and the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame.
Wednesday evening, the USBC Hall of Fame’s annual dinner and induction ceremony will take place. The inductees for this year are Liz Johnson and Larry Laub for Superior Performance and Sam Lantto, Gus Yannaras and the late Fritzie Rahn for Outstanding USBC Performance.
The Annual Meeting continues Thursday morning with awards presentations, including the USBC National Recognition Awards and the Star of Tomorrow Awards.
The legislative session and board elections will take place Thursday afternoon. Delegates will vote on eight proposals involving changes to USBC bylaws, league rules and tournament rules. Two of the Bylaws proposals seek a requirement for non-merged local and non-merged state associations to be merged by August 1, 2016.
Delegates also will select three members for the USBC Board of Directors. Two current board members are among the six candidates running for the board. Five candidates were slated by the USBC Nominating Committee and one is running from the floor.
