Andrew Cain named USBC President
The USBC Board of Directors elected three-time Team USA member Andrew Cain of Phoenix as USBC President for the remainder of the current term, which ends July 31, 2012. Cain, 30, takes over for Jim Sturm, who stepped down in January.
Cain, who started bowling at age 6 and had his first 300 game at age 12, was a member of Team USA in 2002, 2003 and 2005 and was a member of Junior Team USA in 2001. He has won nearly a dozen medals in international competition, and most recently was a member of the Team All-Events champions at the 2011 USBC Open Championships. Cain, who owns a small wholesale business, graduated from Arizona State with a degree in justice studies.
Also, John Losito of Lincoln, Neb., was named to the USBC Board of Directors as the second Bowling Proprietors' Association of America representative. Losito, the proprietor at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, fills the spot vacated by Sturm.
2012 USBC Convention information
The USBC Annual Meeting schedule is now available at BOWL.com/convention or click here. New this year, the annual meeting will begin Thursday afternoon to assure the meeting will be completed by Friday.

Legislative Update meetings
USBC Board members and regional managers will host a series of meetings about upcoming legislative and policy items. The board and staff would like input about some important issues.

Schedule, registration changes for 2013 USBC Open Championships
The USBC Open Championships returns to the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., in 2013, and the storied tournament will have changes designed to improve the event and ease of registration.
First, the tournament’s daily schedule will be adjusted to allow for fresh oil for all squads, including doubles and singles.
Second, an enhanced online registration system will allow captains to enter and change their team information at any time, as well as select and lock in their preferred squads in real time as soon as payments are made.

USBC Youth watch Mike Fagan earn his first major title
Mike Fagan won his first career major title last month at the 2012 Alka-Seltzer Plus Liquid Gels USBC Masters, and USBC Youth members in the Henderson, Nev., area had the chance to watch the final matches and to meet the new champion.
Through the PBA/USBC Insiders’ Tour, USBC Youth members from the Southern Nevada USBC had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and then were able to watch their favorite bowlers from VIP seats. Following his victory, the USBC Youth bowlers went onto the approach to have their picture taken with Fagan.

Make-A-Wish Recipient at USBC Masters
Sean Rash fulfilled the wish of a young cancer victim during the Alka-Seltzer Plus Liquid Gels USBC Masters.
Benjamin Doyle, 16, of Casper, Wyo., met with Rash for a bowling lesson in response to a request from the Make A Wish Foundation. Doyle and his family also attended the live ESPN coverage of the USBC Masters finals.

New regional manager for the West
David Prange has joined the Association Development team as regional manager of the West. Prange most recently was a member of the Tournament Services department at the USBC Open Championships venues. He has served on the Southern Nevada USBC board for eight years and the Nevada State USBC board for four years. Prange also brings experience as a past proprietor and a pro shop operator.

Last, donations of all sizes are accepted. No donation is too small to make a difference in the lives of the 200,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
