Jim Sturm elected USBC President
The USBC Board of Directors elected Jim Sturm of South Charleston, W.Va., as president and Tom Bluth of Davie, Fla., as vice president. They will begin their new roles Aug. 1.
Sturm will be the fourth president in the history of the organization.

Delegates decide three proposals during Annual Meeting
The 1,024 individuals registered to vote had three proposals to decide during the legislative session of the 2011 USBC Annual Meeting.
A USBC National Bylaw proposal to require non-merged state and local associations to be merged by August 1, 2013 was rejected while an amendment to the board of directors elections procedures to change the requirement for credentials to be filed with USBC from 24 hours to 30 days was approved. The proposed League Rule amendment seeking to lower the age for senior leagues to 50 was rejected.

Ballard among six bowlers inducted into Hall of Fame
Del Ballard Jr. was one of six inductees into the USBC Hall of Fame during ceremonies held at the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine, Texas. He was elected in the Superior Performance category.
Joining Ballard in the 2011 hall of fame class were Carol Gianotti and Wayne Webb, also for Superior Performance, Jeff Richgels for Outstanding USBC Performance, Cheryl Robinson in the Veteran category and Roseann Kuhn for Meritorious Service.

Hulsenberg takes U.S. Women's Open title at Cowboys Stadium
Hall of Famer Leanne Hulsenberg of Roseville, Calif., topped defending champion Kelly Kulick of Union, N.J., 218-183, to win the 2011 Bowling's U.S. Women's Open.
The championship round was contested on lanes constructed on the 50-yard-line of Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, before a crowd in excess of 6,000, making it among the most well-attended events in bowling history. Click here to read more about the big night at Cowboys Stadium.

Brendan Pick of Florissant, Mo., has been selected to receive the 2011 USBC Earl Anthony Memorial Scholarship, presented in honor of the legendary bowling professional.

Len Nicholson is first recipient of The Jim Jaryszak Laneman Award
Len Nicholson, the former director of lane maintenance for the Professional Bowlers Association, has been selected as the first recipient of The Jim Jaryszak Laneman Award.
Nicholson was selected by a committee consisting of the USBC Equipment Specifications and Certifications team. The award is named for the former USBC Research Manager who passed away in late 2010.

Pan Am Games roster set for Team USA
The Team USA roster for the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, this October has been finalized. The Pan American Games are an Americas version of the Olympic Games which includes the Olympic program sports and others that are not part of the Olympics. The United States Olympic Committee has specific requirements for selecting players to compete in the event.
Representing the United States in the women's division will be Kelly Kulick of Union, N.J., and Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga, N.Y. The men's team will be represented by Chris Barnes of Double Oak, Texas, and Bill O'Neill of Southampton, Pa.
