National High Average, Series Award winners announced for 2024-2025 season

ARLINGTON, Texas – Liz Kuhlkin of Schenectady, New York, claimed her spot at the top of the average list in the women’s division for the second consecutive season as the United States Bowling Congress revealed its National High Average and Series winners for 2024-2025.

The USBC National High Average and Series Awards are presented to both adult and youth USBC members for posting the top average (minimum of 66 games in the same league) and three-game series during the season.

Kuhlkin – a three-time champion on the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour – earned the distinction for the fourth time in six years after posting a 246.39 average over 120 games in the Towne Mixed Doubles league at Schenectady’s Towne Bowling Academy.

She also claimed the top average during the 2019-2020 (240 average), 2021-2022 (247) and 2023-2024 (239) seasons.

Kuhlkin set the women’s three-game series record (890) to win the National High Series Award during the 2016-2017 season and also is the owner of three youth awards for top average (2008-2009, 2009-2010 and 2010-2011).

In the men’s division, Jake Washington of Hiram, Georgia, collected his first National High Average Award after recording a 253.86 average across 93 games in the Monday Money league at AMF Woodstock Lanes (Woodstock, Georgia).

It marked the second time Washington has averaged more than 250 over the course of a season. He posted 251.45 over 114 games in 2016-2017.

A pair of competitors in the Junior Team USA program recorded the top youth averages in 2024-2025 as Kaitlyn Stull of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Ryan Campbell of Clinton, South Carolina, earned their first National High Average Awards.

Stull – a member of Junior Team USA in 2024 and 2025 – earned the top spot for youth females with a 226.84 average in 71 games. The 2024 PWBA Mooresville Regional and Regional Showdown champion posted the number during the #NorthHouseElite league at Raleigh’s Buffaloe Lanes North.

Campbell – a member of Junior Team USA’s developmental program in 2025 – rolled to a 248.11 average across 72 games to claim top average for youth males. The 2023 Junior Gold Championships winner (U12) was able to achieve the feat during the Saturday Morning Youth Junior/Masters 24-25 league at Expo 300 in Greenwood, South Carolina.

The National High Series Award in the men’s division went to Desron Weatherspoon of Buffalo, New York, while Baltimore’s Jordan McGainey earned the recognition in the women’s division.

Weatherspoon claimed his award by becoming the 40th bowler to roll a 900 series in USBC-certified competition Jan. 18. He posted his perfect session during the Saturday Elite Bowling league at AMF Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga, New York.

McGainey had games of 300, 300 and 278 for an 878 series to secure the honor for the season. She started her set on May 1 with 29 strikes during the Thursday Elite league at Baltimore’s AMF Perry Hall Lanes and finished with strikes on 35 of her 36 deliveries.

In the youth division, the National High Series Awards were claimed by Jacob Tirado of Schenectady, New York, and Sicora Floyd of Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Tirado took home the top tally for youth males after rolling games of 290, 300 and 300 on Jan. 16 for an 890 series. His performance – which closed with 35 strikes – occurred during a high school matchup for the Suburban Council at Kingpin’s Alley in Latham, New York.
