USBC Rulebook now available for mobile

USBCLogoSum2When a rules question arises on the lanes, bowlers can have the answer right at their fingertips as the United States Bowling Congress 2010-11 Playing Rules book now is available to download to mobile devices.

"We want USBC members to have quick and easy access to the rulebook," said Mike Spridco, USBC Director for Rules and Bonding. "Now, instead of digging through their bowling bag to find their rulebook, bowlers can turn to their mobile device and access the information."

Mobile device platforms that will be able to access the Playing Rules include the iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone, Android and Kindle. For step-by-step instructions on how to access the rulebook on any of the devices, go to BOWL.com/rulebook.

The latest edition of USBC Playing Rules was printed for the 2010-11 season for use through the 2011-12 season. Any rules changes voted on during the 2011 USBC Convention will be added to the online versions.

"It is important to use the technology and tools we have to communicate with our bowlers," said Pete Tredwell, USBC Managing Director of Media. "This is the latest example of adapting our existing media for the benefit of our membership."

USBC, as the sport's national governing body, interprets and enforces playing rules for its leagues and tournaments. The USBC Rules department provides online tools to help officials run league and tournaments more efficiently, and also has expert counselors to help with rules interpretation and direction.
