USBC to provide live streaming from Hoosier Classic

The 41st Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic will feature one of the largest fields in college bowling history and the United States Bowling Congress will be there to provide wire-to-wire live streaming coverage this weekend on BOWL.com.

The free live streaming from Western Bowl in Indianapolis will begin Saturday, Feb. 20 at 7:45 a.m. EST and continue through the end of competition on Sunday, Feb. 21. The Hoosier Classic is expected to feature 74 men's teams and 42 women's teams from across the country.

Bowling fans will be able to watch qualifying action all day Saturday and continuing Sunday morning. The focus will then shift to the men's finals at 1 p.m. EST Sunday, which will be followed by the women's finals at 4 p.m. EST.

The Hoosier Classic, which is believed to be the longest-running event in collegiate bowling, will feature a record-breaking team scholarship prize fund of more than $30,000, toppling the college bowling record the event set last year by $10,000.

The field for this year's event was increased from a capacity of 80 teams after the event filled up in 37 minutes. As a result, tournament officials adjusted the schedule, separating the men's and women's qualifying into different blocks, to accommodate more teams.

Each team will bowl nine games of qualifying, starting with a six-game block Saturday. After three final qualifying games Sunday, the top eight teams in each division will advance to the Baker format bracket. The teams will battle in best-of-five game matches until one team is left standing in each division.

Among the teams expected to compete in the Hoosier Classic are defending men's champion McKendree University and women's champion the University of Central Florida. Also scheduled to compete are reigning USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships winners the Wichita State men and women, both ranked No. 1 in the country this season.
