USBC Youth watch Parkin win Queens title
April 28, 2011
Several members of the Syracuse USBC Youth association had the chance to be in attendance at the Oncenter Convention Center in Syracuse, N.Y., to watch Missy Parkin capture the 2011 Queens title on Wednesday.
"I cannot thank the people at USBC enough for giving us the opportunity to bring a few of our youth to such a great event," said Deb Deuel, association manager for Syracuse USBC Youth, who helped to coordinate the outing for the kids.
The USBC Youth bowlers had the chance to watch the stepladder finals, which were televised live on ESPN2, and afterward went onto the approach to have their picture taken with Parkin. The youth bowlers, sporting USBC Youth jerseys, were highly visible during the telecast.
"This is a night I will never forget," said Danielle Maher.
USBC Youth member Garrett Bishop not only had the chance to watch the matches, but met Chris Barnes, who handled the color commentary on the ESPN broadcast.
"Greatest night of my life," Bishop said. "I had a chance to sit down and talk one on one with Chris Barnes."
