December 19, 2010

The stepladder finals for the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour Scorpion Championship featured an international field and USBC Youth bowlers had the opportunity to witness the event as part of the PBA/United States Bowling Congress Insiders' Tour.
The PBA/USBC Insiders' Tour program gives selected USBC Youth members the opportunity to meet their favorite players on the PBA Tour, attend matches and get a behind-the-scenes look at a PBA event.
Several youth bowlers had the chance to attend the World Series of Bowling events, including the Scorpion Championship, the fourth of five WSOB "animal pattern" events.
For the first in PBA Tour history, four international competitors made the five-man field for the stepladder finals - Dan MacLelland of Canada, South Korea's Yong-Jin Gu and Jun-Yung Kim, Bill O'Neill of Southampton, Pa., and Australia's Jason Belmonte.
USBC Youth bowlers Jonathan Busby, Brandon Reyes, Jacob Schumacher, Jacquline Schumacher and Branden Ward from the Southern Nevada USBC watched the PBA Tour event at South Point Bowling Center, in Las Vegas, Nev.
The youth bowlers had special seats to see Yong-Jin Gu's 236-224 victory over top-seed Jun-Yung Kim and then went onto the approach to have their picture taken with the winner.
The Insiders' Tour is a joint program of the PBA and USBC.
