Utah bowler fires 17th perfect game of 2021 USBC Open Championships

LAS VEGAS - Cameron Foster of Eagle Mountain, Utah, became the 17th bowler to roll a perfect game at the 2021 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships.
Foster had made multiple runs at 300 in prior visits to the USBC Open Championships, but he had been unable to achieve perfection. This year's event at South Point marked his 14th consecutive year on the tournament lanes.
"It's a monkey off my back," Foster said. "I've had other opportunities before and let it get through my hands. It was nice to actually throw three good shots in the 10th frame."
The 35-year-old right-hander sandwiched the 300 on Sunday night between games of 186 and 202 for a 688 singles series. Team USA's Andrew Anderson of Holly, Michigan, leads Regular Singles this year with 802.
Foster is no stranger to stringing strikes on bowling's biggest stages. He also added his name to the record book at the storied U.S. Open, where he rolled the first 300 of the 2019 event in Mooresville, North Carolina.
"It's always nice to shoot 300 in a prestigious event like this," said Foster, who hones his skills at All Star Bowling & Entertainment in West Jordan, Utah.
Foster's 2021 Open Championships campaign included a 606 series in team Saturday at the South Point Bowling Plaza and a 618 set in doubles Sunday at the South Point Bowling Center, before the big singles performance capped a 1,912 all-events total.
In 14 years at the Open Championships, his career average is 205.85.
The timing of Foster's 300 was extra special, as Father's Day wound down to its final 30 minutes. Foster's pregnant wife, Kirstin, was present and is due in a couple of weeks, so he felt the perfect game came as an early Father's Day gift.
