Vandy, UMES tie for top spot at Kutztown Invitational

READING, Pa. - Vanderbilt and Maryland Eastern Shore finished tied at the top of the standings after qualifying Saturday at the 2011 Kutztown Invitational, one of the largest regular season NCAA Women's Bowling events.

The two schools finished tied at 11,291 after six four-game Baker matches Friday and six traditional team games on Saturday. Maryland Eastern Shore earned the top seed for Sunday's bracket by having the higher total on Saturday.

Fairleigh Dickinson and Kutztown remained in the hunt to win the tournament by finishing third and fourth, respectively. The top four teams in the bracket are the only teams with a chance to win the tournament.

Maryland Eastern Shore and Vanderbilt will face off in the opening round Sunday morning with the winner advancing straight to the championship match. Fairleigh Dickinson and Kutztown will bowl with the winner advancing to take on the loser of the UMES-Vanderbilt match for the last spot in the championship.
