Winners determined for 2024 USBC Youth Scholarship, Adult Youth Leader Awards

ARLINGTON, Texas – The International Bowling Campus Youth Committee has determined the recipients for the 2024 United States Bowling Congress Youth Scholarship and Adult Youth Leader Awards.
USBC offers several scholarship opportunities for young bowlers to apply for each year. The criteria for these awards can be found at BOWL.com/ScholarshipAwards.
USBC also recognizes several youth leaders who have shown a continued effort and dedication to promote youth bowling within their community and help build the sport for the next generation of athletes.
The award winners were determined by the IBC Youth Committee based on submitted applications.
The 2024 award winners are:
• Alberta E. Crowe Star of Tomorrow: Melia Mitskavich, DuBois, Pa.
• Chuck Hall Star of Tomorrow: William Smith, Smyrna, Tenn.
• USBC Youth Ambassadors of the Year: Jersie Benson, Evansdale, Iowa; Derek Hayes, Madison, Wis.
• Annual Zeb Scholarship: Ethan Leicht, Florence, Ky.
• USBC Youth Volunteer of the Year: Patricia Mauerman, Tremont, Ill.
• David Dahms Coach of the Year: Nelson Tellames, Richmond Hill, Ga.
• Earl Anthony Memorial Scholarship: Brady Burns, Loveland, Ohio; John Eversole, Fairfield Township, Ohio; Hanna Hale, Hazlet, N.J.; Edwin Ortiz, Medina, Ohio; Anna Osias, Memphis, Tenn.
• Gift For Life Scholarship: Shelby Brown, Saraland, Ala.; Madison Bruner, Great Falls, Mont.; Jessica Gopanchuk, Warrenville, Ill.; Katarina Hagler, Cape Coral, Fla.; Emily Holian, Lee, Mass.; Kyra Italien, Dorchester, Mass.; Madison Morant, Elgin, S.C.; Edwin Ortiz, Medina, Ohio; Anna Osias, Memphis, Tenn.; Averyanna Thomas, Connelly, N.Y.; Taylor Waltier, Fircrest, Wash.; Sandler Wiekamp, Chamberlain, S.D.
Feature stories on each group of winners will be posted on BOWL.com throughout March and April leading up to the 2024 USBC Convention. The 2024 event will take place April 22-25 at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
The award winners for the Alberta E. Crowe Star of Tomorrow, Chuck Hall Star of Tomorrow, USBC Youth Ambassadors of the Year, Annual Zeb Scholarship, USBC Youth Volunteer of the Year and David Dahms Coach of the Year will be recognized on-site at the USBC Convention during the USBC Annual Meeting.
They will join the winners of the three USBC National Recognition Awards, which previously were announced.
Charla Wilke of Fort Dodge, Iowa, is this year’s recipient of the Helen Baker Award for Outstanding Association Service, Dave Bryant of Richland, Washington, is the Joyce Deitch Unity Award winner and Rich Eighme of Waterloo, Iowa, has been selected as the USBC Proprietor of the Year.
