Excitement at side events during 2026 USBC Open Championships

RENO, Nev. – A pair of side events kept the action going throughout the duration of the 2026 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships at the National Bowling Stadium.
The 79th edition of the Bowlers Journal Championships was contested on the low end of the fourth floor of the Taj Mahal of Tenpins, while The Forty Frame Game returned alongside the USBC Open Championships for the first time since 2021 and was held in the Kingpin Club on the first floor of the venue.
Both events took place daily from March 13-July 18.
All standings for the 2026 Bowlers Journal Championships and The Forty Frame Game are unofficial and pending final verification.
The top three-game score at the Bowlers Journal Championships was authored by Brad Cieslewicz of Iola, Wisconsin.
The 32-year-old right-hander recorded games of 277, 300 and 248 on May 5 to post an 825 series and secure the top spot in Open Singles.
In Senior Singles, Dino Castillo of Highland Village, Texas, took over the lead June 29 with a 790 series.
The 2022 USBC Senior Masters champion rolled games of 248, 243 and 299 to make his way to the top of the leaderboard.
Ken Wyatt of Sterling Heights, Michigan, collected a pair of top finishes in 2026 thanks to his performance at the NBS on May 21.
He rolled games of 266, 279 and 255 for an 800 series to lead the action in Super Senior Singles, and the effort also helped him to the top of the standings in Senior Doubles with Gary Duarard of Livonia, Michigan. Duarard rolled a 701 series to help the pair post a 1,501 total.
Wyatt won the Super Senior Singles title at the 2023 Bowlers Journal Championships, which also was held in Reno.
In Open Doubles, the father-and-son pairing of James Campbell of Loudon, Tennessee, and Jeffrey Campbell of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, recorded the top tally with a 1,542 total on April 2.
Jeffrey led the way with games of 227, 300 and 264 for a 791 series. James – a 2004 Team All-Events winner at the Open Championships and the 2025 Super Senior Classic champion – rolled scores of 252, 248 and 251 for 751.
The big number in the 181 and Under Singles category was posted by Mark Ross Jr. of South Glens Falls, New York, with a handicap total of 783. Jordan Stickman of Pensacola, Florida, and Wayne Cooper of Pace, Florida, finished at the top of the standings in Handicap Doubles with a combined score of 1,419.
Wesley Low Jr. of Mesa, Arizona, paced the way in the tournament’s Dual Entry prize fund with an 824 series. The prize fund is available to competitors who compete in both singles and doubles during the same set.
Low had games of 277, 247 and 300 during his set July 9 to also place second in Open Singles.
In the optional jackpots at the 2026 Bowlers Journal Championships, a total of 18 bowlers shared the top payout for rolling 300s at the event, while 27 competitors completed the Strike Jackpot. More than 80 participants put together 30 clean frames during their set.
The Forty Frame Game – also known as the world’s most unique singles tournament – featured a handicap format that blended creative scoring across 40 continuous frames and included optional side pots (Scratch, 175 and Under, Ladies Only and Gray Pay) and bonus side pots.
In the Main Event for 2026, Danny Kelso of Las Vegas recorded the top overall score with a 1,353 total.
Nicholas Cenzoprano of Cary, North Carolina, led the way for the Scratch option, finishing with a 1,229 score.
For the 175 and Under option, Garret Fosmire of Renton, Washington, posted 1,285 to lead the field. The total also placed Fosmire second in the Main Event.
Abigail Porter of Manchester, New Hampshire, paced the Ladies Only category in 2026 with a 1,216 total.
Salt Lake City’s Al Walter posted the top number in Gray Pay (50 years of age or older as of the first day of the 2026 event) with a total of 1,245.
