RENO, Nev. –
Perfect games have been pairing up at the 2026 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships, with six instances of two being rolled in the same day so far at the National Bowling Stadium.

In addition, William Mateffy of Elko New Market, Minnesota, connected for two of his own at the 2026 event (team and doubles), becoming just the fourth competitor in tournament history to record a pair of 300s in a single edition of the event.

The theme was doubled on June 12, however, as four competitors achieved perfection across four squads at the NBS.

The day kicked off with Junior Team USA’s Jacob Bockstie of Nottingham, Maryland, closing his doubles set with 300 on the way to taking the lead in Regular All-Events with a 2,277 total.

Scott Baker of Holbrook, Arizona, was next, going 12 for 12 in his second game of team at the NBS. Craig Nidiffer of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, followed with his second perfect game at the USBC Open Championships to start his singles set, and Tyler Gromlovits of Palm Coast, Florida, fired 300 during his second game of team to help Jayhawk Bowling Supply into second place in the Regular Division.

A total of 33 300s have been rolled at the 2026 Open Championships.

After a 162 start in team, Baker got going in Game 2 on the way to perfection. He closed the set with 213 for a 675 series – his top set through six appearances at the Open Championships.

His performance helped lead Arizona’s Desert Bowler to a 2,542 total in the Classified Division, which currently places the group in the top 70.

Baker closed his 2026 appearance with 535 in doubles and 506 in singles to finish with a 1,716 total in the Standard Division.
