USBC Youth bowlers watched Jason Belmonte capture the GEICO Shark Open title in in Las Vegas. The finals included a 300 game by Chris Barnes.

SMART Fund plans distribution to scholarship providers
The Board of Directors of SMART (Scholarship Management and Accounting Reports for Tenpins) Corporation will make an income earnings distribution to providers’ funds later this month. A $230,000 total distribution will be credited before March 7, 2012.

10-year-old bowler rolls 800
Korey Reichard of Jackson, Mich., became the youngest bowler to roll a certified 800 series when the 10-year-old right-hander had games of 265, 257 and 278 for an 800 series January 21. The record is unofficial until the required paperwork has been filed and verified by the United States Bowling Congress.

USBC Youth members in the Las Vegas area had the opportunity to attend the Professional Bowlers Association World Series of Bowling through the PBA/USBC Insiders’ Tour, and the USBC Youth members watched Finland’s Osku Palermaa capture the PBA World Championship.
